TODD’S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our worship service. If you are a guest with us this morning we welcome you and invite you to join in with us as we honor our Creator and Savior.

We had a great Sunday last week at our Neighbor Fun Day. Thanks to everyone who helped plan and pull off the event. And it was great to see so many guests! Let’s continue to be an inviting people introducing people to Jesus whenever we can.

We have over 100 women at our Ladies’ Retreat this morning, so our crowd here may be down quite a bit. Prayers for all of them as they have this time to focus on God’s transformative power and enjoy a special time of fellowship. Thanks to all the women who have been working hard to plan this event.

Today we will look at another story from the Gospels that illuminates the universality of Jesus’ invitation. In Luke 10 Jesus has a dinner party with the rich and diminutive tax-collector Zacchaeus which once again raises the eyebrows of the observing crowd. At the conclusion of this meal Jesus makes a clear statement about his purpose—he has come to seek and save the lost.

It seems like just about every day we are hearing about growth coming to Texoma and even now we can see that happening. As Texoma grows we want to be prepared to continue to be the presence of God in our communities. Wanting to be intentional and visionary we have enlisted the services of the Siburt Institute of Abilene Christian University to help us prepare for the future and navigate the changing landscape ahead of us.

One aspect of this preparation is to hear from you. To help maximize our strengths and to recognize the challenges we will be facing we are asking all our members to participate in Focus Groups. These groups are designed to be informal conversations moderated by the elders to help the Siburt Institute know us better and advise us well.

If you haven’t already, let me encourage you to sign up for a Focus Group.

Our Wednesday groups are full but we have several openings in our Sunday afternoon groups. Sign up sheets are available in the atrium or click the link on the church app to sign up.

Philippians 3:13–14 (ESV)

But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
