TODD'S TAKE

Good morning and welcome to our worship. To all our guests, we are glad to have you with us. Members and guests, please complete a digital communication card that can be accessed on the church app or by scanning the QR code below.

This morning I will be wrapping up my series “Cries of Desperation” with a cry from an unlikely and unnamed man—the thief on the cross.   Jesus was crucified with a thief on his right and a thief on his left, but only one recognized who Jesus really was and in a moment of clarity he made a bold request of Jesus. He asked Jesus to remember him when Jesus came into his kingdom. And Jesus made the promise that paradise was awaiting him. That’s all we know of this repentant criminal, but the exchange really tells us more about Jesus than it does the thief. Jesus remembers people not because of their accomplishments, their popularity, or their social standing. Jesus remembers those whose hearts are turned to him.

Christian Theater Workshop 2022 drew a record number of children with 134 participants. If you haven't seen a performance, make sure to be here this afternoon at 4 pm. A huge thanks to Kathy Pryor, Janaga Trotter, and Kenna Brandt for directing CTW again this year, and thanks to the dozens of volunteers who have helped with the day camp, costumes, sound and lighting, staging, and the million other things that have to be done to pull off an event like CTW. Once again, this has been an amazing demonstration of teamwork!

The Turning Point in Durant celebrated their third anniversary last Sunday. So many people are being reached with the gospel through this church that meets on Sunday evening. Several members of PACOC are working with this ministry as well as many other believers in southern Oklahoma.

The Barnabas Center continues to provide food to many in our community and has recently been the recipient of a grant from The North Texas Food Bank. We will have more information and details about that in the near future.

Calvin and Linda Henry are in Colombia meeting with several mission teams associated with Great Cities Missions whose focus is to minister to the Latin world. Among those they will be visiting are the Jimenez and Corrales families who we at PACOC financially support.

Today is the last Sunday our youth interns, Hannah Alexander and Trevor Schwiethale,  will be with us. Thanks to the two of them for all they have meant to our youth this summer. Blessings to them as they resume their college career at Oklahoma Christian University and Harding University. Let’s worship the Lord together!
