Lady Jacket Breakfasts

Trunk 'n Treat

Our annual Trunk 'n Treat is Sunday, October 25 from 5-7:00 PM. Sign up to host a trunk at pacoc.net/tnt.  We are also in need of Candy. Candy donations can be placed in the baskets in the hallways.

Ladies Day

Women of all ages and stages of life are invited to join us for a Ladies Day on Sat. October 24 from 9:00AM-3:00PM. Our theme will be Abide. Come and be inspired by our Speaker, LuAnn Nystrom, daughter of Kathy Sturch and the late Ernie Sturch. We will enjoy coffee, lunch, and fellowship together.  Childcare will be provided.  TODD’S TAKE

Welcome to our worship service. We are glad to have you here, whether you're a longtime member or a first-time visitor. If you have any questions about Park Avenue or need to know more about the Lord, please seek us out.

Today in the sermon time we take on the fifth of six phrases we are working through as I preach through and we memorize Philippians 3:12–14. Last week Paul told us his one thing: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Today's phrase tells us what he is straining toward. Philippians 3:14a:

"I press on toward the goal to win the prize."

It's easy to be busy and still be aimless. Our days fill up with worries, schedules, screens, and even good things, until we lose sight of what we're running for. Paul chose a word for "goal" that means the mark you fix your eyes on. Like looking through a scope, he chose to see less so he could see clearly.

Today we'll look at what it means to keep our eyes on the goal, and at the prize waiting at the end of the race. It isn't a participation trophy, and it isn't a merit badge. It's a gift from God that we run toward, and it's far greater than any applause this world can offer. There are many voices in the stands, but only one Judge makes the call, and his is the only opinion that counts.

I'm glad you are here today as we press on together: to worship, to fellowship, to remember the Lord's sacrifice, and to reflect on Paul's words to the church in Philippi.

  

UPCOMING EVENTS

24 Hour Prayer Vigil - October 2-3

Our 40 days of prayer will culminate with a 24 hour prayer vigil here at the building from 6 PM Friday, October 2 to 6 pm Saturday, October 3. No sign up required, just show up any time on the hour and join in with prayer leaders to lift up PACOC. Plan to stay for an entire hour.

Pledge Sunday - October 25

On that Sunday, each family will be invited to make a three-year commitment to our Pressing On campaign and to bring a First Fruits Offering to help the work begin. Pledge cards will be provided, and every commitment will be prayed over together. Please be in prayer about what God is leading you to give.

 

New Disciple Making Communities Have Begun

New DMCs have begun on Wednesday nights at 6:30, and new adult Bible classes started this Sunday at 9 AM. We also offer DMCs on Sunday nights. See all the offerings on the information sheet at the welcome center. Children’s classes for all ages are offered on Wednesday nights as well and Sonshine Hour for kids is available on Sunday mornings. For info and sign-up go to pacoc.net/groups
