Every three years the members of Park Avenue are asked for their input in who you see as potential leaders of the church here at Park Avenue. 2026 is that year.
In the time leading up to this year’s nominations, various men have lead prayers from the pulpit asking that God guide us, as well as raising up men who are qualified to fill the role. Beyond the public forum, prayers have been lifted up in every meeting of the Elders that we be in the middle of God’s will with our decisions and moreover for Him to make it abundantly clear about who we should bring forth to add to the eldership.
Beginning on January 18th, we opened the nomination period with a lesson from Todd on some of the qualifications of elders and albeit somewhat disconnected due to the ice storm, Todd followed up with another lesson on the 25th. And we wrapped up the nomination period on February 1st.
Based on clear feedback from the congregation, the Elders then spent extensive time over the last three weeks in prayer, meditation, and discussion about and with the candidates that we want to bring before you this morning. Through all that time, we believe that God has confirmed that we present to you Todd Detro and Shane Haddock as additional Elders for Park Avenue.
Staff has prepared a video which will allow you to “get to know the potential new elders” for each so that if you don’t know them, you can find out a little more about them, and if you do know them, perhaps it will fill in some other gaps in information.
We ask that you join us over the next week in prayerfully considering these two men for the calling of Shepherd for this Body at Park Avenue. Should you believe that there is a scriptural reason that either of them should not serve, we invite you to reach out to one of the continuing elders by next Sunday, March 1st. Our contact information is on the front of the Messenger.
If there are no scriptural objections, these men will be installed to join the current Elders on the following Sunday, March 8th.
