TODD’S TAKE

Good morning and welcome! We're so glad to be together as a church family today. If you're our guest this morning, thank you for being here—we'd love to get to know you.

Over the next few weeks, we're beginning a new series focused on one of the most vital spiritual disciplines we can practice: contemplating the greatness of God.

If we're honest, most of us don't do this nearly enough. Our attention gets consumed by daily life—the news cycle, urgent tasks, personal struggles. Before we know it, our world shrinks down to just our small corner of existence, and we lose sight of God's awesomeness. But intentionally pondering the Being who exists far beyond our little universe brings us hope, confidence, and courage. Without this discipline, we become vulnerable to despair and hopelessness.

This week, we're starting where Scripture starts—Genesis 1:1. It's a verse we all know, but we tend to rush right past it, eager to get to the fascinating details of creation. Today, we're slowing down. Right here at the very beginning of the Bible, we'll discover profound truths about who God is: His eternality, His creative power, and the vastness of what He has made.

We'll explore what modern science tells us about the universe's beginning, why an eternal universe is impossible, and most importantly, what it means that this great God loves you personally. Join us as we learn to contemplate the One who makes something from nothing.
