TWO Back to School Prayer Events

Community Back to School Prayer Event

There will be a Back to School Community Prayer on Sunday, August 6 at 6:00 PM at Heritage Park in downtown Denison for a time of worship  and community prayer for our schools.  We will then disperse at 6:30 to the DISD campuses to offer specific prayer for that school. Make plans to join us as we lift up the schools in Denison.

PACOC Back to School Prayer Event
In addition to our community prayer event we will have our own annual Back to School Prayer on Wednesday, August 9th!  We will gather in the ARK at 6:30 PM to spend time in prayer and write letters of encouragement for our students, teachers, support staff and administrators who are beginning their school year throughout Texoma.  Make plans to join us.

Trip to Israel, 2024
Western Heights Church of Christ is trying to organize a 15 day trip to the Holy Land in Israel at the beginning of May 2024. The cost will be approximately $5,500 per person from Newark, New Jersey. A commitment would be required sometime in September. For any questions please contact Dick or Janet Freeman at 903-814-7214 or your can email Janet at dfreeman2238@gmail.com

TODD'S TAKE

Good morning! So good to have you with us for our Sunday gathering to worship, commune, fellowship, and be in the Word. If you are a guest with us today, a special welcome. If you are a Christian and are looking for a church home, we would be glad to talk to about Park Avenue. If you have come with interest in Christianity and would like to know more about what we believe, we would love to talk to you about our faith.

In the sermon time I will begin teaching through your Parishioner’s Picks submissions. This is a time where you ask me to address a passage of scripture that is special to you or one you might have questions about. I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but we will go to the Bible to see what we can discover about God. I have quite a list already, but if you want to make a submission for future sermons go to pacoc.net/p2p.

We have had a great summer, but fall is creeping up on us and hopefully cooler temps. I can’t guarantee that any time soon, but what I can say is that plans are being made to resume our full slate of community options in September. Starting Wednesday, September 6 all our classes and our Park Avenue Wednesday Supper (PAWS) will be back. Speaking of PAWS—If you are looking for a way to serve our church family, we are in need of teams to cook and serve our PAWS meals. With enough servants, that would mean serving at one PAWS a month. Give it a thought and if you want to help out call the church office or go to pacoc.net/PAWS. We also need teams to cover the occasional 5th Wednesday.

Until September 6, here is what is in store for Wednesday Nights in August

  • August 2—Bible Backroads—the Gospel of John. Join us in the Worship Center at 6:30 for a look at some of the major themes of this loved Gospel. Activities for children will be available this Wednesday. Children are invited to participate with their families for the remainder of August.

  • August 9—PACOC Back to School Prayer

  • August 16, 23—Praise Nights in the Worship Center

  • August 30—Minister’s Cookoff
