NEWS & NOTES

Membership
Welcome back Phil & Marjorie Landrum to PACOC.

A Generation of Babies Have Been Blessed!
Doris Hailey has taught the Baby Bible class for more than 20 years and David Hailey has assisted her for many of those years. Linda Tollison taught Babies and Toddlers for more than 20 years at Park Avenue. These teachers have poured love, care, and the Word of God into the hearts of the youngest among us. Seeds of the gospel have been planted through songs, smiles, tender touch, and even a jumping frog and a Wooley Lamb! We are grateful that Doris, David, and Linda chose to serve this church family by providing an atmosphere of warmth and safety for wee ones. You have been the hands and feet of the Lord! Many thanks!

TODD’S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our worship services.

Today marks the beginning of something I call "Parishioner's Picks"—sermons based on your requests. It seems that every time I ask for suggestions, someone—often more than one person—asks to hear a sermon on a Psalm. And for the most part, the Psalms you request are not Psalms of praise, but rather Psalms of comfort.

Living in this fallen world, all of us suffer the painful consequences of sin, and sometimes we find ourselves wondering. We wonder if God is truly for us. We wonder if there will ever be an end to our suffering. We even find ourselves questioning the character of God himself.

The Psalms remind us that we are not alone in wrestling with these questions. They comfort us with the simple truth that others have walked this path before us, thinking these same thoughts, feeling these same doubts. More importantly, the Psalms are deeply reassuring because they consistently bring us back to the true character of God—our faithful and trustworthy refuge.

This morning we will examine one of the most beloved Psalms in all of Scripture: Psalm 46
