NEWS & NOTES

Sympathy
Our sympathy is with Ken Washburn after the passing of June Washburn who passed away peacefully last Monday, October 27th. Her services will be Saturday, November 8 at 2 PM at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. Family visitation is at 1 PM.

Thank You
Thank you to the many, many volunteers who contributed in various ways to shine the light of Jesus to our community through Trunk 'N Treat! Those who hosted trunks, contributed candy, fed hot dogs to the hungry, teens and their mentors who greeted guests, kept children safe on the inflatables, and made them happy distributing mountains of treats, all worked together for the success of a beautiful evening! There are so many small details to pull off an event such as this and the people who work the background prep work are rock stars! Special thanks to those "background" folks: Jeff Thompson, Charles Gaddis, Seth & Julia McLaughlin, Greg & Terri Laird, Tyler Cope, and Basil McClure.

TODD’S TAKE
Welcome to Worship.

Good morning and welcome! We're so glad to be together as a church family today. If you're visiting with us, thank you for being here—we'd love to get to know you.
This morning's sermon continues our journey through 1 John, where the apostle returns again and again to one essential theme: love one another. True followers of Jesus are marked by love—not just love as a nice idea, but love expressed through concrete actions and genuine care for others.

John takes us back to one of humanity's earliest and darkest moments to show us what happens when hatred takes root in the human heart. When the world was young, Cain murdered his brother Abel. While murder itself is obviously the sin, both John and Jesus point out something deeper: murder begins with hate. This destructive emotion must be rooted out of our hearts. John's remedy? He points us to the ultimate example—the sacrificial love of Jesus. When we truly experience His love, hatred loses its grip on us.

May the love of God dwell richly among us! Let’s embrace that today as we worship.

Focus Ministry—Greeters
This month we're spotlighting our hospitality ministry and the incredible greeters who welcome us each Sunday. With warm smiles and a Messenger in hand, they create an atmosphere where everyone feels valued and expected from the moment they walk through our doors.

Our greeters are especially important for first-time guests. We all remember what it's like to walk into an unfamiliar place—feeling uncertain, maybe even a bit out of place. Our greeters ensure that no one experiences that discomfort here. Instead, guests are met with genuine warmth and a sense of belonging.

If you have a gift for hospitality and would like to serve as a greeter, we'd love to have you on the team! Contact our ministry leader Joyce Henshaw at (903) 327-9383 or complete a volunteer form at pacoc.net/serve.

We're also updating our Sunday servant roster for other roles including prayer leaders, ushers, and more. If you're interested in serving on Sunday mornings, visit pacoc.net/serve or stop by the church office to learn about the opportunities available.
