New Wednesday DMC this September

Throughout this year, 11 Disciple Making Communities (DMCs) have been meeting Wednesday evenings, both in-person and online, as we journey through the Bible together. These gatherings have provided meaningful opportunities to share how God's word is speaking to us in our daily lives, and they will continue meeting throughout the year.

This September, we're excited to launch an additional group with a focused mission: reading through the entire New Testament in 16 weeks. Tyler Cope will lead this group, which will meet Wednesdays at 6:30 PM in the High School room in the Ark.

We'll be using Immerse—The Reading Bible, which presents the New Living Translation in a format specifically designed for an engaging reading experience. Learn more about this unique Bible at immersebible.com.

At PACOC, we believe every member should be connected to a spiritual community. This DMC offers you the perfect chance to engage in this meaningful spiritual discipline alongside your brothers and sisters in Christ. Whether you missed the opportunity to join a Bible reading group at the start of the year or have lost momentum along the way, this is your moment to experience God's word and Christian fellowship in a fresh way.

Welcome to worship! What a joy it is to gather together as a church family. To our guests joining us today, we'd love the opportunity to connect with you and share more about Park Avenue!

We had a great Sunday a week ago as we welcomed the Canons to PACOC. And last Sunday night we had a blessed time of community prayer as we lifted up our students, teachers, and staff in prayer in anticipation of the new school year.

Todd's Take

In our sermon today, I will be addressing another Parishioner's Pick concerning our worship through singing. Over the course of my lifetime, I have witnessed some pretty significant changes in church music—changes that some view as improvements while others consider them troubling departures from tradition.

This raises important questions: What does the Bible actually say about our singing in worship? How expressive can or should we be when we lift our voices to God? At what point might we approach violating Paul's command to conduct all things "decently and in order"?

Today we will examine biblical principles that can help us navigate this sometimes sensitive topic with wisdom and grace.
